Extra Parking That’s Built to Last
Running out of room for the boat, the camper, or the second car? A concrete parking pad gives you a solid, clean spot to park off the grass and out of the street. Creative Concrete has been pouring concrete across the Twin Cities since 1998, and we can design a parking pad that ties right into your existing driveway or stands on its own along the side of your garage.
Why Concrete for a Parking Pad Instead of Gravel or Asphalt?
Gravel is cheap up front, but it spreads into your lawn, ruts under heavy vehicles, and is a pain to plow. Asphalt needs regular sealing and softens in summer heat, which can leave dents from trailer jacks and kickstands. Concrete stays flat, handles heavy loads, and needs very little upkeep. (We break down more of the concrete vs. asphalt debate in our post on the benefits of a concrete driveway.)
Making Your Parking Pad Work (and Look Good)
- Plan for what’s parking there. An RV or loaded trailer needs a thicker slab and better reinforcement than a compact car. We’ll size the slab design to the job.
- Think about drainage. We slope the pad so water runs away from your house and garage, not toward them.
- Match or complement the driveway. A parking pad that matches your existing concrete looks like it was always there. You can also add a stamped border or color to dress it up.
- Leave room to maneuver. We’ll help you figure out approach angles so backing a trailer in isn’t a 10-point turn.
Concrete Parking Pad FAQs
Do I need a permit for a parking pad in Minnesota? Many Twin Cities-area cities require one, and some have rules about how much of your lot can be hard surface. We can help you figure out what applies at your address.
Can you add a parking pad next to my existing driveway? Yes. That’s one of the most common setups. We tie the new slab into the old one with proper joints so the two move independently.
How long before I can park on it? Foot traffic is usually fine within a few days, but give it longer before driving heavy vehicles on it. We’ll give you a timeline for your specific pour.
Will salt damage a concrete parking pad? Properly mixed and cured concrete holds up well to Minnesota winters. Check out our FAQs for more on care and maintenance.
